About the Whitman Winds:

Whitman Winds is a newly formed chamber ensemble with members hailing from the Philadelphia region and are all current or former members of Symphony in C, a premier training orchestra for young professional musicians. Their friendships and respect for each other grew as we played together, so it was an easy decision for us to form this group.

Their name is taken from Walt Whitman, the great Philadelphia poet, who beautifully expressed the power of music in many of his poems. They hope to evoke that power as an ensemble, exposing our listeners to the beauty of music, and enabling them to discover it in new and exciting ways. They are committed to innovative and accessible programming and creating opportunities for dialoguing with our audiences.

Members of the Whitman Winds:

Megan Carroll, flute
Jocelyn Moore, oboe
Bixby Kennedy, clarinet
Stephen Rudman, bassoon
Jonathan Clark, horn
