Youth Orchestra
The Symphony in C Youth Orchestra provides young musicians ages 10–18 with the opportunity to learn, rehearse, and perform orchestral music alongside talented young professional musicians.
As the region’s only Young Professionals Orchestra, Symphony in C offers students a unique opportunity to receive mentorship from professional musicians while developing their skills through full orchestra rehearsals, chamber music, and live performances.

Program Overview
The Symphony in C Youth Orchestra is designed for students who want to grow as musicians while experiencing the excitement of performing in a full orchestra.
The program includes:
- Full orchestra rehearsals led by Joanne Erwin
- Chamber music opportunities for all participants
- Coaching from Symphony in C teaching artists
- Performances during the Winter and Spring Youth Orchestra concerts
- Opportunities to perform side-by-side with Symphony in C’s professional orchestra
Students rehearse and perform both large ensemble and small chamber music repertoire throughout the season.
2025–2026 Schedule
Auditions Monday, October 27 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Rehearsals Most Monday evenings from 6:30–8:30 p.m., beginning November 10 and continuing through May.
Rehearsals are expected to take place at Rutgers University–Camden. Once all dates are confirmed, an updated calendar will be posted and registered students will be notified.

Students may audition on:
- Flute
- Oboe
- Clarinet
- Bassoon
- Horn
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- Tuba
- Percussion
- Violin
- Viola
- Cello
- Double Bass
- Harp
Auditions
Students should prepare:
- Two scales of their choice
- A short excerpt (2–3 minutes) from a piece they are currently studying in school or private lessons

Tuition and Financial Aid
Full-Year Tuition (Two Semesters): $850
Payment options:
- Pay in full: $765 (10% discount)
- Pay by semester: $425 per semester
Sibling Discount
Families with multiple participants receive a 25% tuition discount for each additional child after the first participant.
Financial Aid
A limited amount of financial aid is available. Accepted students will receive financial aid application materials after placement.
