Young Composers' Competition

Young Composers' Competition

Celebrating the Next Generation of American Composers

As part of Symphony in C’s long-standing commitment to supporting American music and emerging artists, the Young Composers’ Competition provides young composers with the opportunity to have their original orchestral works performed by a professional orchestra.

The winning composition is premiered by Symphony in C on a subscription concert and professionally recorded, giving the selected composer valuable experience working with professional musicians and sharing their work with audiences.

Winning works are also considered by Theodore Presser Company for inclusion in its rental library, providing additional opportunities for the composition to be discovered and performed.

A Platform for Emerging Composers

Through the Young Composers’ Competition, Symphony in C supports the creation of new orchestral music and provides composers with a unique opportunity to experience the process of bringing a new work from the page to the concert stage.
