Symphony in C Auditions
2026–27 Season Auditions
Symphony in C is accepting auditions for the 2026–27 season with Music Director Noam Aviel.
Auditions are open to students pursuing a music degree at a college, university, or conservatory, as well as recent graduates interested in performing with one of the region’s leading professional training orchestras.

There are no percussion openings at this time.
Substitute List Auditions
All orchestral instrumentalists are welcome to audition for the Symphony in C substitute list based on audition availability.
Priority will be given to instruments with current openings.
Percussionists interested in being considered for the substitute list should email auditions@symphonyinc.org directly, as percussion auditions will not be held during the 2026 audition cycle.
Audition Information
Audition Format
All auditions are:
- Unaccompanied
- Not behind a screen
Audition time will include:
- One solo piece
- Three total excerpts
Auxiliary Instruments
Musicians auditioning for positions requiring auxiliary instruments (including English horn, bass clarinet, or piccolo) must perform at least one of their three excerpts on the auxiliary instrument.

Audition Repertoire
Strings
Prepare:
- One movement from a solo work by J.S. Bach
- The unaccompanied exposition of a Romantic concerto (if one exists for your instrument) or another standard work
Chosen works should be contrasting in style.
No orchestral excerpts are required.
Winds and Brass
Prepare:
- The exposition of a solo sonata or concerto for your instrument (without accompaniment)
- Three contrasting orchestral excerpts of your choice
Auxiliary instruments must be demonstrated on at least one excerpt when applicable.

Scheduling begins in late August and is completed on a first-come, first-served basis until audition slots are filled.
All instruments may audition for the substitute list, even if there are no current openings. Priority will be given to instruments with available positions.
